Let's take a trip to Gamagouri in Aichi Prefecture where the division is located. Here we will tour the 3D CAD/CAM section where we do high precision complex contour design and molding, and the new large structure manufacturing section.
First span | First, let me explain the general layout of the whole factory here. The factory is roughly divided into 3 spans. The first span is for design, modeling and machining. The second span is the new site for the nations largest CNC processing machine that begins operation in 2003. The third span is a storage area for manufactured products and molds.
In the first span, we have a design room where we use a 3-axis CNC processing machine and 3D CAD/CAM system to do modeling. We also have a machining area where the molds are finished. Let's take a closer look at these sections. |
Design, modeling | In the design room, we use Alias/Warefront?h from Alias/Warefront Co. to design your product. Then we use "Unigraphics", unity 3D CAD/CAM/CAE system for engineering after modeling. We also have engineering services available to mold from your sketch. We use the software here to make a functional model (fillets, etc.) of your basic design. Please feel free to contact us for a consultation. |
CAD modeling for the base wooden core. | Once the model is completed, we use our CAD system to design the simplest stepped down wooden core possible, taking into account the thickness of urethane foam and Sprayputty that will be used later in the manufacturing process. |
We finalize the full shape of both the plywood frame | We finalize the full shape of both the plywood frame and surfacing materials, cut the wood on a CNC processor, and put the actual wooden framework together. Then, we begin the Sprayputty process. |
