After successfully ending the Malaysian leg of the PAN-ASEAN TOURING event on March 5, the tour entered its fourth country, Singapore, on the 6th. The total distance the tour has covered since it started in Indonesia in November is 9341 km.
From the final Malaysia destination, Johor Bahru, the riders and tour staff crossed the border into Singapore by bus and moved on to the day's hotel after passing through customs.
At 7:00 that evening a welcoming party was held and over 100 guests including dealers and industry representatives from around Singapore turned out to greet the ASEAN riders. The dinner started with a welcoming address by General Manager Hoe Boon Meng of the host company for the Singapore leg, Hong Leong Corporation Holdings Pte. Ltd. The Singapore leg is expected to be a bit different from the other legs so far because, in addition to touring, there are a variety of events schedules that are oriented to things other than touring, such as safe-riding appeals and the like.
After the welcoming dinner, a meeting was held for the riders by Mr. Tony Yeo, who will serve as our riding marshal here in Singapore. He explained the differences in the traffic environment between Malaysia and Singapore and the riding formation that will be used here.
As for the participating riders, the same rider pairs from Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines who ran the Malaysian leg will continue here in Singapore, while there will be a change in the two Malaysian representatives and a new Singapore team of three men and women.
