Today is our last day in Malaysia. You could say that our touring journey through Malaysia ended yesterday when we arrived in Johor Bahru. Today we will tour briefly through the city and then attend a ceremony at a specially prepared stage on Danga Bay.
We started out from our hotel at 11:00 in the morning and rode about 80 km, mainly on the expressways. The motorcycle police who were escort today made sure we had a safe and smooth trip by controlling traffic so thoroughly we felt like the expressway was ours alone.
Eventually we circled back toward the Johor Bahru city center. It was just after 2:30 in the afternoon when our touring convoy arrived at Danga Bay led by the police escort and our marshal riders. The ASEAN riders pulled up in their 135LC machines in a neat line in front of a large gallery of spectators at the specially set up ceremony stage. The riders had started the Malaysian leg of the PAN-ASEAN TOURING at Kuala Lumpur on February 26. Since then, they have completed the full eight-day schedule of touring, including the rest day at Genting Highlands. The total distance run was 1,465 km. The riders' aim, and the motto they chorused together every morning before starting out, had always been "Safety First!" And, now they had succeeded in completing the tour without mishap.
